Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy is a test that allows your doctor to look at the inner lining of your large intestine (rectum and colon). Your doctor uses a thin, flexible tube called a colonoscope to look at the colon. A colonoscopy is used for a range of medical conditions.

We strongly encourage you to visit the website [mycolonoscopy.ca] to learn more about the procedure.

[Here] is our standard preparation sheet for colonoscopy. Your doctor may modify these instructions to meet your needs, and such details will be provided to you.

On the day of your procedure, an intravenous line (IV) will be inserted after you arrive at the hospital, and you will be directed to the procedure room. You will be at the hospital for at least a couple of hours.  This procedure usually requires sedation, and you will need to arrange to have a driver take you home.
